The Story: “My name is Tyler Barker and I am a proud Boonwurrung, Taungurung, Yorta Yorta, Mutti Mutti and Palawa man residing on Peramangk Country.

This piece is a piece that holds a very special place in my heart. Captured in my hometown of Mannum, this specific shot manages to bring back all the memories of my childhood from the Murray River town: the sounds of the river, the fish and chips down the rec or swimming in those dark green waters. The pelicans were always around, morning, day, or night they were always there, and sometimes they were cheeky enough to try and steal your food. Pelicans in short, are cheeky, shy, keep to themselves, and honestly beautiful animals that are absolute posers when a camera is pointing at them. I tried to capture this in this picture. A truly iconic and important part of the Murray River”.
